About Us
The Water Safety Patrol is a private, non-profit organization founded in 1920 by Simeon B. Chapin. Its mission is to keep Geneva Lake safe and enjoyable for all. A total of over 80 people make up the entire summer staff which is managed by Operations Director Ted Pankau and Associate Director Brigid Cashman. All Staff members must meet strict qualifications and participate in ongoing training.
The patrol is made up of three main branches:
- Lifeguarding
- Educational Programs (including Swimming Lessons and Boating Safety Classes)
- Boat Patrol
Funding for the Patrol comes largely from annual individual contributions thanks to people who share a common concern for safety on Geneva Lake.
